When in Dumaguete City, don't fail to do a side trip to Apo Island.  How to get there?  From Dumaguete, go to Ceres Bus Line and take the bus going to Bayawan.  Fare cost is 25Php for ordinary bus and 30Php for aircon bus.  The travel time is 45 mins. Let the driver or conductor know that you get off at Malatapay Market. Walk until you reach the coast line.  You will see the coast guard station and boat station. Medium boat cost 2,000Php that good for 4 persons and big boat cost 3,000Php for 8 persons.  This is a wet ride so better wear your diving and snorkeling outfit before heading to the island. Dumaguete City: City of Learning and Big Bikes

This was my first visit to Dumaguete City.  Dumaguete City is the capital of Negros Oriental. It has earned a distinction of "City of Learning" in the South. With its four universities and other colleges where students from provinces come together to enroll for college education.

The city attracts many foreign retirees for its easy access to Cebu, Bohol, and Panay Island to name a few provinces in Visaya that offers beautiful beaches and dive sites.
